<image:caption>There is no singular approach when it comes to integrative therapy. We’ll utilize the tools and methods best suited to your personality and your needs to most effectively reach your desired outcome. I often work with contemporary attachment- based psychodynamic therapy as a bedrock, accompanied by other appropriate complimentary methods such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EFIT (Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy). These methods are non-pathologizing and come from a place of collaborative curiosity, discovery, and attunement. When working together, you can expect me to be engaged, accepting, and empathic, with an emphasis on cultural humility and sensitivity. I look forward to meeting you, hearing about what brings you to counseling, and figuring out how we can help you feel better both now and long term!</image:caption>

<image:caption>My therapeutic style is warm, accepting, engaged, and respectful. Using an integrative counseling method, we’ll work with various therapeutic styles as appropriate for your preferences, values, and needs. I often utilize contemporary attachment -based psychodynamic therapy as a bedrock for our work together as it addresses your lifelong emotional experiences and engrained relational patterns. We may also use methods from Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Intimacy From The Inside Out (IFIO- IFS for couples), Narrative Therapy, or Healing Toxic Shame, all of which are non-pathologizing modalities that work from a place of collaborative curiosity, self- understanding, and compassionate attunement. Additionally, we may utilize breath-work, mindfulness, and other complementary therapeutic methods to address your immediate concerns while fostering your current goals and future dreams. <image:title>About - My Education and Clinical Training</image:title>
<image:caption>I hold an MS in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University of California, and completed my practicum at Dominican’s University Counseling Services (UCS) with Diane Suffridge, Ph.D. During my time at UCS, I was trained in psychodynamic/control mastery theory, contemporary psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and CBT, with an emphasis on compassionate and trauma- informed care. I also hold an MA in Art History with a focus on gender and women. My BA is from UC Berkeley, where I studied Studio Art and Costume Design. I am a 150-hour certified vinyasa yoga instructor and have spent over 30 years practicing mindfulness, meditation, and breath-work. In addition, I am a 30-hour trained crisis and suicide prevention counselor. I currently work in a group practice called de la Rosa Psychotherapists, where I focus on couples and individual adults. In this practice I have trained in IFS (Internal Family Systems), IFIO (Intimacy From The Inside Out- IFS for couples), Healing Toxic Shame, and Emotionally Focused (EFT) modalities. I have also completed trainings in Jungian Depth Psychology. I have worked clinically with clients from a wide range of religious, spiritual, professional, cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds, as well as working with many clients from communities of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, first generation individuals/college students, students shifting from high school to college, student athletes, clients with eating disorders and/or OCD, late diagnosed neurodivergent individuals, neurodivergent individuals/couples, and couples experiencing betrayal, family concerns, and/or intimacy issues. I have worked with clients ages 17 to 82, and enjoy working with folks in various stages of their life journey.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - My Background</image:title>
<image:caption>I was born and raised in Sonoma County, on the unceded ancestral land of the Coast Miwok, Pomo, and Wappo people. I grew up in the West County, with the fortune of playing in its lush forest creeks, tall redwoods, open meadows, and blooming apple orchards. While I loved living in the country as a child, as an emerging adult I craved an urban experience and went to school at UC Berkeley. I also lived in San Francisco for many years, where I worked as a creative executive in its vibrant urban environment. Ultimately though, Sonoma County has my heart and I happily returned here in the early 2000s. I have always been deeply interested in the human condition and studied this topic extensively through my early work in studio art and art history. Training to teach yoga after many years of practice furthered my understanding of how our body and mind are interwoven and how their relationship impacts our wellbeing. Over the years my focus revealed itself to be connection, communication, self-expression, and authentic self-understanding. This led me to study the art and science of psychotherapy, a synthesis of all the topics I treasure. I’m passionate about psychology, visual art, writing, music, plants, trees, movement, and my family and friends. It’s a distinct honor, pleasure, and privilege to serve and support the unique community which I hold so dear.</image:caption>

<image:title>Specialty Page 2 - Sometimes anxiety feels unmanageable. We can change that!</image:title>
<image:caption>You may feel physical pain when you experience anxiety, and this is not uncommon. You may have tightness in your body, such as in your jaw, neck, or shoulders. You might have difficulty breathing freely. In addition to these uncomfortable physical sensations, you may have racing thoughts, pervasive worry, and a sense of never-ending dread. You may find sleep elusive. All of this can be exhausting, frightening, and isolating. Anxiety is a beast, and your experience is valid.</image:caption>

<image:title>Specialty Page 2 - Working with Anxiety</image:title>
<image:caption>If it feels right to you, we’ll begin by addressing your immediate symptoms so you have a game plan for when anxiety shows up. We’ll work to connect with your emotions and listen to how your body speaks to you through worry. We’ll strive to understand how parts of your mind might have naturally adapted to protect themselves in ways that manifest as anxiety and that may no longer be useful to you. We may use mindfulness and breath-work techniques to calm your anxiety initially, if this feels comfortable. Our work together will always be trauma-informed, and the pace will be yours. You can feel better, and we’ll do it together!</image:caption>

<image:title>Information & FAQs - A few words about investing in therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>You may wonder if therapy is worth the investment. Many people don’t think they deserve to dedicate resources to caring for themselves or to working with their partners in therapy. You may feel that you should be able to figure things out on your own. However, it’s often tough to navigate life’s individual and relational challenges by yourself. Therapy repeatedly proves itself to be one of the most valuable investments you can make in yourself, your relationship, and in your teen. When we come from a place of self-understanding, emotional attunement, and personal agency, we meet our partners, sexuality, creative life, career, and family challenges with energy and compassion. As a result, our lives are more often what we want them to be.</image:caption>

<image:title>Specialty Page 3 - Relationships of all sorts are welcomed and honored here.</image:title>
<image:caption>I honor and respect relationships of all sorts and enjoy working with relationships of all configurations. Whether you’re a dyad, parents in a blended family, interested in shifting your relational agreements, or just plain curious about how your relationship might be the most fulfilling, I am here to support you and your loved ones. While sex can sometimes be a sensitive issue to broach in relationships, this is also a safe, accepting, and nonjudgemental space in which to explore sexual wellbeing and any concerns you may have about your own sexuality, sexual experiences, and/or sex in your relationship. This could include topics such as infidelity or betrayal, desire discrepancy, orgasm concerns, sexual trauma, and much more.</image:caption>

<image:title>Specialty Page 3 - Struggling in relationships is not uncommon, and therapy can help!</image:title>
<image:caption>Relationship struggles are often fueled by attachment-based cycles and patterns which may undermine the secure connection you yearn for in a partnership. You may find that relational escalation occurs frequently and that it can be challenging to shift this pattern. It may be that one of you becomes blaming while the other shuts down, that you both shut down, or that you both become angry. These are common patterns that are often addressed in relationship therapy. While it may not always be easy, these patterns can be shifted so that everyone feels a deeper sense of understanding and unity.</image:caption>

<image:title>Specialty Page 3 - What’s your approach to relationship counseling?</image:title>
<image:caption>In our sessions we’ll work with an integrative therapeutic approach, meaning that we’ll use complimentary models that best suit your preference, situation, and needs. For relationship counseling I often utilize EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and IFIO (IFS for couples), which are both non-pathologizing and non-blaming modalities. These methods allow us to learn about your relational patterns, consider how these patterns may or may not serve your current relationship, and work to re-engage, soften, and shift them in order to increase your emotional connection and intimacy. Things can feel better, and we’ll get there together!</image:caption>

<image:title>Specialty Page 4 - What if I have an eating disorder?</image:title>
<image:caption>If you feel that you may be experiencing an eating disorder, the most important thing you can do is seek support, and know that you’re not alone. If you’re reading this right now, you’re already on the right path…and that’s wonderful! I’ll work with you from a place of care, respect, and non-judgement. While it often seems that eating disorders are about body image, they’re often about much more than that. Together we can work in a safe environment to explore your experiences and better understand how the parts of your eating disorder developed, how they serve and don’t serve you, and what might help you to move towards your desired change. You deserve a fulfilling life and you can get there, one step at a time. We’ll do it together.</image:caption>

<image:title>Specialty Page 4 - How will we work with disordered eating?</image:title>
<image:caption>While there are many ways of working with disordered eating, and we’ll always use an integrative approach, IFS can be very useful in this area. IFS is a non-blaming and non-shaming therapeutic modality that is empirically supported and often used to help people understand and work through disordered eating. IFS posits that our minds are smart and adaptive, and that we have many different parts of ourselves that simultaneously play different roles. You may have had the sense that while one part of you feels one way, another part might feel another way. That’s the idea. Through IFS it is possible to work with the protective parts of yourself, often engaged in the eating habits, to find more internal security, self-compassion, and safety. In this manner, you may begin to feel an overall increased sense of liberation and personal choice when it comes to caring for your precious self. Let’s talk!</image:caption>
